③水分。水分是燃烧过程中的有害物质之一，它在燃烧过程中吸收大量的热，对燃烧的影响比灰分大得多。
④发热量。为的发热量是锅炉设计的一个重要依据。由于电厂煤粉对煤种适应性较强，因此只要煤的发热量与锅炉设计要求大体相符即可。
⑤灰熔点。由于煤粉炉炉膛火焰中心温度多在1500℃以上，在这样高温下，煤灰大多呈软化或流体状态。
⑥煤的硫分。硫是煤中有害杂质，虽对燃烧本身没有影响，但它的含量太高，对设备的腐蚀和环境的污染都相当严重。因此，电厂燃用煤的硫分不能太高，一般要求最高不能超过2.5%。

无烟煤介绍
无烟煤固定碳含量高，挥发分产率低，密度大，硬度大，燃点高，燃烧时不冒烟。黑色坚硬，有金属光泽。以脂摩擦不致染污，断口成贝壳状，燃烧时火焰短而少烟，不结焦。
无烟煤在入炉前需经过一系列的运送过程才能入炉。运输路线往往较长，在运输过程中，从一个设备到另一个设备，从一个场地到另一个场地，无烟煤经受多次跌落，而且无烟煤之间也会发生相互磨损、相互挤压。当无烟煤存放在露天场地，经常遭风吹、雨淋、水浸、受潮。所以任何一种工业无烟煤均需满足下列基本要求：
(1)要有足够的冷、热机械强度这是工业无烟煤必须具有的基本要求，也是无烟煤是否能代替块煤或焦炭，代替动力煤使用于固定床锅炉和移动床锅炉必须满足的首要条件。
(2)一般鉴定型煤冷、热机械强度的方法有三种：
①抗压强度指型煤被压碎裂时，所能承受的大压力，用此指标可以判别型煤内部粉煤颗粒相互结合的相对强度。在常温下测定的强度称为冷抗压度；将型煤在高温下加热一段时间后，再进行测定，即为热抗压强度。具有较高的热抗压强度，才能使型煤在燃烧过程中维持形状燃烧而不散。
②跌落强度如前所述，在使用型煤过程中，型煤要经多次跌落。所以也要求型煤具有一定的抗冲击能力。型煤的跌落强度是鉴定抗冲击能力的质量指标之一。煤球(5kg)从一定高度(1．3～1．5m)同时自由落下至一定厚度的(15mm)钢板上，这样反复落下三次，后以大于13mm的粒度的质量百分率表示落下强度的指标。一般认为，这个指标大于85％为好。
③耐磨强度，型煤的耐磨强度，对于炼铁、钙镁磷肥生产以及制合成氨原料气使用的煤球来说都很重要，它也是检测型煤内部粉煤颗粒互相结合的牢固程度的方法之一。型煤可以在冷态下进行耐磨试验，也可以在热态下进行。测定热态下的耐磨强度更能接近使用时的实际情况。显然型煤耐磨强度愈高，在炉内燃烧、气化时就愈不容易粉化和增加带出物。总之，抗压强度、跌落强度和耐磨强度是判断型煤冷、热机械强度的三项主要指标。
(3)要有足够的热稳定性
无烟煤的热稳定性与煤的热稳定性一样，是指在高温下燃烧或气化过程中对热的稳定程度。也就是无烟煤在高温作用下保持原来粒度的性质。热稳定性好的无烟煤，在燃烧或气化过程中能以其原来的粒度烧掉。显然热稳定性差的无烟煤，在使用过程中会使带出物增多，同时增加炉内阻力，甚至造成结渣，而且影响燃烧和气化效率。因此无烟煤的热稳定性也是重要的指标之一。
(4)无烟煤的形状
①边角不易过多，否则容易造成相互磨损。
②不因形状而影响料层的透气性。
③制球时，有利于成型，提高型煤强度。
④目前实际使用中，采用扁椭球型、卵型、枕型、棒型等较为普遍。新出现的无规则型煤将更受用户欢迎，并有可能取代尺寸均一的工业型煤。
(5)要有很强的耐潮，抗水性能无烟煤在空气中经久放置，不因受潮、雨淋、水浸而明显降低强度。长期室外堆放不捂垛、不发霉、不降低无烟煤强度。
无烟煤用途
无烟煤用于居民、机关食堂、饮食行业等炉灶上用于炊事和取暖用无烟煤。无烟煤生产工艺有无粘结剂成型、有粘结剂成型、热压成型三种。无烟煤用于链条锅炉、手烧锅炉等。无烟煤用于化工厂、造纸厂、化纤厂、啤酒厂、铜厂、化肥厂、砖厂及屠宰厂等等。
