Performance
MSI was quick enough to roll out new gaming laptops with the latest Intel Kaby Lake processors. We've already reviewed the &and today&we have the&MSI GT62VR 7RE Dominator Pro that is equipped with an i7-7700HQ processor and the&NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPU.
Design Aspects
The MSI GT62VR 7RE Dominator Pro is clearly classed as a high-end product, featuring a larger body profile with dimensions of 390 x 266 x 39.6mm and weight of&2.94kg. The laptop has a 15.6-inch IPS panel with 1080p video resolution. The viewing angles are impressive with deep and crisp colors.
The overall design of the MSI GT62VR 7RE Dominator Pro is similar to the previous MSI gaming laptops that we have reviewed earlier. The palm rest comes with its own hairline finish and the&multi-colored SteelSeries keyboard has good&travel.&
The Dynaudio speakers are placed above the keyboard,&next to the power, fan boost and keyboard color control buttons. The speaker system consists of two 3W speakers and one 3.5W woofer with Nahimic 2 immersive Sound enhancements.
There are a series of system LED indicators placed on the front-end of the laptop.&
The machine features one USB 2.0 port along with a series of audio jacks that includes the mic-in, headphone jack, line-in and line-out ports. On the right side, MSI has placed three USB 3.0 ports and a full-size SD card reader.
MSI decided to place some of the important video connectivity ports on the rear side in between the Cooler Boost 4 fan exhausts. These include the power connector which is in the middle, an HDMI port with support of 4K output at 60Hz, one RJ-45 jack, one Mini-Display port, and one USB Type-C reversible port.
While the video output ports are conveniently placed on the rear (it helps to avoid unnecessary wire tangles), the USB Type-C port could have been placed on any of the either sides of the laptop. The front lid also features the hairline finish with gamer-centric dual red LED stripes and the MSI Tattoo logo in the middle portion.
