It is important that a model with the real original platform dynamic characteristics is taken for a standard of comparison when the dynamic flexibility method is used to diagnose the damage position in the pile-foundation jacket platform. Because of the factors in the materials and technology, the stiffness matrix in the finite element method ( FEM ) , such as the joint stiffness, is difficult to be accur- ately established. So the computational model of the FEM must be modified using the test-analysis model value. The measured degrees of freedom in the on-site test are usually much less than the degrees of freedom (DOF)of the FEM computation. In this paper, a computation method has been developed in Order to compare the FEM with the test results directly. The structure is divided into the "master" and "slave" degrees of freedom. The "master" degrees of freedom correspond to the measured degrees of freedom. The simplified model can be obtained with the modal reduction. Then the design sensitivity analysis of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors has been carried out using the modal frequency and modal shape of the test. In this paper, a two-storey frame structure and a jacket model structure have been calculated. Meanwhile, the modified coeffients, the FEM computational and experimental values have been given. That is to say, for the long-term operation, if there is no tensile stress in the rockmass or the tensile stress is much less than the rock ultimate tensile strength (the tensile stress in the rockmass is equal to the in-situ stress plus the tensile stress caused by the internal pressuse), no hydraulic fracture will take place in the rockmass during the operation. To model the in-situ stresses by thermal stresses can get the satisfactory results for the displacement and stresses. Moreover, the reinforcement of the concrete lining in the tunnel is determinded by the calculation of the development of the crack width. The crack width can be led out by the re-bars' working stresses which are calculated from the FEM model, in which cracked concrete is modelled by anisotropic material elements, and reinforcement is modelled by truss elements.
