The French Chronicle of the XIth centuryshows that three Borzois accompanied the daughter of the GrandDuke of Kiev, Anna Iaroslavna when she arrived in France tobecome the wife of Henri I. Among the owners and breeders therewere many famous people including Tsars and poets : Ivan theTerrible, Peter the Great, Nicolas II, Pushkin, Turgenev. Thecreation of the famous kennel Pershinskaya okhota by theillustrious breeders the Grand Duke Nicolai Nicolaevitch and DimitriValtsev had great importance. 被毛很长，呈波浪状的大卷毛,颈部的鬃毛最多,颜色有白色、金黄色、搭配部分黑色色泽的淡褐底色，柔滑（不是羊毛状）。头部、耳朵、前肢前面的毛发短而平滑；颈部的饰毛浓厚，最好是卷曲的。后躯和尾巴的羽状饰毛十分丰富，胸部和前肢后面的羽状饰毛略少一些。
色任何颜色或颜色组合都可以接受。
脑袋轻微圆拱，长而狭窄，止部几乎不可察觉。
眼睛大，呈黑色色泽，位置稍微有点斜，颜色深，表情聪明但很温和。眼睛不圆，丰满但不显眼，颜色不能很浅，眼圈颜色深，内眼角位于鼻尖到后枕骨的中间位置。

苏俄猎狼的物种分布
苏俄猎狼的发展起源
关于苏俄牧羊犬的历史来源，人们所知道的内容都不确切，仅仅知道苏俄牧羊犬是一种古老的视觉猎犬。在蒙古族进攻俄国时将这种犬带到了俄国，与俄国本土的许多猎犬交配改良，逐渐适应俄国的高寒气候，并且凭借它出色的视觉能力狩猎，形成苏俄牧羊犬。由于苏俄牧羊犬美丽高雅，这种犬在俄国仅为贵族饲养，贵族之间当做礼物互相馈赠。能够用苏俄牧羊犬打猎已经成为俄国最能代表身份的贵族运动，甚至文豪列夫&托尔斯泰也曾经是此犬的爱好者，由于王室和人民都喜爱这种高雅的猎犬，就定苏俄牧羊犬为俄罗斯的国犬。
1842年俄罗斯王室将苏俄牧羊犬送给英国亚历山德拉公主，苏俄牧羊犬才第一次离开俄国国境，并在1891年第一届克鲁夫特名犬展览会上展出。但是在19世纪中期欧洲各国混战的年代里，许多苏俄牧羊犬被用于远交试验，仅仅有少数老品种的苏俄牧羊犬保存了下来，人们开始注意保护这个古老的纯种犬。
1889年，威廉&韦德首次将一只苏俄牧羊犬带上美洲大陆，但是这只犬并非来自苏俄牧羊犬的原产地俄罗斯，而是来自英国。之后，又有一位美国人C&斯泰德曼&汉克斯终于从俄国带回一只血统纯正的苏俄牧羊犬，这种犬才真正在美国流传开来。
苏俄牧羊犬与它的俄国祖先保持一致而没有发生巨牧羊犬赢得了许多服从证书。然而打猎是苏俄牧羊犬的主要用途，它的漂亮和好脾气通常也是重要的。它常常是一个出类拔萃的伙伴和宠物。如今，这种高贵的猎犬很容易获得它主人的喜爱，虽然苏俄牧羊犬的环境已经与沙皇俄国时期大不相同了，但它们依然保持着贵族气质。

苏俄猎狼的喂养方法
1、不要给苏俄猎狼犬喝牛奶，很多狗都有乳糖不适应症，尤其是小狗喝牛奶更容易引起腹泻、脱水，严重的会导致死亡。如果是需要母乳却没有母狗喂养的小狗，最好买宠物专用的奶粉来喂。
2、不要给苏俄猎狼犬吃洋葱和大葱，因为它们含有二硫化物，会造成狗狗的红血球氧化，容易引发溶血性贫血。
3、吃少量的动物肝脏对狗狗不错，但过量食用会使骨骼出问题。肝脏中含有大量维生素A，严重的还会引发维生素A中毒。
4、绝对不要给苏俄猎狼犬吃巧克力，因为巧克力中的可可碱会使动物输送至脑部的血流量减少，会造成心脏病和其它有致命威胁的问题。
5、不要给苏俄猎狼犬吃生鸡蛋，煮熟的蛋很适合它，但煮熟的蛋黄儿应该少喂。
6、不要给苏俄猎狼犬吃生肉，容易感染寄生虫，并且也不易消化。
7、不要给苏俄猎狼犬吃鸡鸭骨头，因为鸡鸭骨头太尖，会划破狗狗的肠胃。
8、糖最好不吃，但如果苏俄猎狼犬吃了有毒的食物或不能消化的东西要它马上吐，那就给它灌一小茶杯红糖水，它会立即呕吐。蒸熟的胡萝卜泥对苏俄猎狼犬不错，是很理想的美毛食品。
9、苏俄猎狼犬不能有效吸收维生素C，所以最好不要给狗狗喂水果，维生素C聚集反而有害。尤其是葡萄和西红柿，因为这些水果的皮容易粘在呼吸道上。
10、刺激性食物例如辣椒、生姜、大蒜、胡椒、大料等通通不要吃。
11、油性大的脂肪含量高的食物尽量少吃，容易变胖。
12、盐份过多的食物不应该喂给苏俄猎狼犬吃，因为含盐含油脂都太多，对狗狗身体不好。
13、年糕、紫菜可能堵住咽喉或粘在喉管上，引起窒息。
其次，每个月定期给苏俄猎狼犬修剪毛发和脚趾甲，挤一下肛门腺。狗狗的耳朵是耷拉下来的，容易积聚脏东西。要着重注意护理。
苏俄猎狼的鉴别挑选
　对于成年的苏俄猎狼犬来说它们没有过多的要求，对人有礼貌，很少吠叫。能动能静，在你的生活中随时扮演成一个小丑或者一个王子。它们捕捉活动的动物的能力也相当不俗，因此遛狗的时候一定要严加看管及时的制止它，经常要督促。以免伤害到其他人的宠物，带来不必要的麻烦。
